Smooth calf is one of the finest qualities of calfskin, a full-grain leather with a smooth and firm appearance. Your Duret Paris belt in smooth calf is tanned with chrome, rather than vegetable tanned – this is what gives it its bluish-gray color along the edge. We apply a wide range of natural pigments to our smooth calf leathers after tanning. The fineness, suppleness and resistance of this material make it a top choice for use in the finest quality footwear, accessories and belts. All Duret Paris belt collections – Classic, Bold, Distinctive and Timeless – offer luxury belts in smooth calf.
Your navy grained calfskin belt is made with the respect of Duret Paris' artisanal know-how. For more than 25 years, our values of exigency, finesse and perfection have resulted in the creation of unique and authentic pieces. The quality of our leathers and skins is our priority since they will constitute the essential of your future belt or accessory. The navy color is then fixed on the leather of your belt or accessory with natural pigments. A true trademark of Duret Paris, the navy color can also be applied with beeswax in order to achieve a patina. You can choose the type of buckle best suited to your navy belt from among gold, palladium or ruthenium colors. Your navy leather belt can be worn on a daily basis or for events such as weddings or award shows. Whether you prefer the belts from our Classic, Unusual, Bold, or Timeless collections, your navy leather belt can be engraved with your initials or those of your loved one.
There are three main families of leather: smooth, nubuck and grained. Grained leather is not naturally grained; it is the tanner who gives the desired appearance to the grain on the leather. All types of leather can be grained and the process can be done by pressure embossing, dry drumming or boarding. The grained leather of your high quality Duret Paris belts is traditionally darker on the top surface than in the creases of the grain. Maintenance is exactly the same as for any other leather, except it must also be well brushed with a polishing brush to make sure that no traces of leather cream remain in the creases.
