Box calf

Smooth calfskin is one of the finest qualities of calfskin, a full-grain leather with a smooth and firm appearance. Your Duret Paris card holder in smooth calfskin is tanned with chrome, rather than vegetable-tanned – this is what gives it its bluish-gray color along the edge. We apply a wide range of natural pigments to our smooth calfskin leathers after tanning. The fineness, suppleness and resistance of this material make it a top choice for use in the finest quality footwear, accessories and card holders.

Grained

There are three main families of leather: smooth, nubuck and grained. Grained leather is not naturally grained; it is the tanner who gives the desired appearance to the grain on the leather. All types of leather can be grained and the process can be done by pressure embossing, dry drumming or boarding. The grained leather of your high quality Duret Paris accessories is traditionally darker on the top surface than in the creases of the grain. Maintenance is exactly the same as for any other leather, except it must also be well brushed with a polishing brush to make sure that no traces of leather cream remain in the creases.
