After working with all the great French luxury brands for years, Mickaël Benarroch set up Duret Paris in 1998. He wanted to offer a service where clients can order hand-sewn belts and leather accessories in the finest leathers and exotic skins, tailored to their precise requirements. As well as his skills in the noble craft of saddlery, this self-taught artisan is a maestro of color who creates wonderfully subtle finishes on leather.

Color is the unmistakable hallmark of Duret Paris. Our workshops are a hive of activity, always humming with the sounds of traditional leathercrafting practices and tools, and this is also where the animal skins acquire their rich nuances of ruby reds, denim blues, bright oranges and berry colors, deep burgundies and chestnuts, or sophisticated grays. Every Duret Paris belt is unique, made to the client’s measurements, and designed to last a long time. That’s why it takes eight hours to make just one belt.

“My love for beautiful craftsmanship dates back to my childhood, when I used to play in my dad’s workshop among the wooden tools and gorgeous shoes he repaired. As a third-generation leather craftsman, I set up Duret Paris in the early 90s because I was determined to perpetuate this tradition of French luxury savoir-faire, without compromise. I inherited a passion for leather and traditional saddlery crafts, and wanted to make unique objects for my clients that would really stand out because of their superb finishes. I feel so fortunate to have learned leathercraft from the very best, and now I make sure I pass these skills on to others.”
