Description
Black ostrich belt, embellished with a square buckle in a gold satin finish. This belt is custom-made and entirely hand sewn in saddle stitch using black linen thread. The lining of this belt is made in burgundy box calf. Belt width measures 30 mm.
Skin
Ostrich skin is distinguished by its quill bumps – the small, raised points on the skin where the follicles are and that feathers used to grow out of. This bumpy texture is the unique hallmark of ostrich, one of the most beautiful and resistant leathers in the world. Very pliable and easy to handle, ostrich skin is an absolute pleasure to work with. Our artisans will sew your ostrich skin belt entirely by hand, usingge-old traditional leathercrafting techniques. The ostrich leather is dyed using natural pigments. We use linen thread, which we coat with beeswax to ensure that the seams are watertight. You can choose the finish you like best for the buckle on your ostrich leather belt, whether it be gold, palladium or ruthenium.
Color
Your belt in black satin-finish ostrich was crafted with the traditional saddlery and leathercrafting know-how of Duret Paris. We have been bringing our exacting quality, subtle style, and eye for perfection to our unique and authentic leather goods for over 25 years. The quality of our leathers and skins is paramount to us, since they will be the cornerstone of the belt or accessory you select. The leather of your belt or accessory will be dyed the desired color, black, using natural pigments. A hallmark of Duret Paris, a patinated black can also be achieved through the application of beeswax. You can pick the type of buckle that best matches your black belt from our choice of gold, palladium or ruthenium finishes. Your black leather belt is equally suited to daily wear or special occasions like a wedding or award ceremony. Whatever style you choose, your black ostrich belt can be monogrammed with your initials – or someone else’s, if it is to be a gift.
Finish
The satin-finish belts we craft at Duret Paris are super-versatile and can be worn not just with everyday outfits or eveningwear, but also with high fashion styles. When we make your top-of-the-line belt in a leather such as calfskin, lambskin, crocodile, python, or buffalo, we can also give it a satin-finish if you like. Applying this satin-finish is the final stage in a long tanning process – and one which Duret Paris entrusts to the very best French tanneries. In all, tanning a hide takes an average of four weeks and it requires several skilled trades. Various artisans will work on the skins, to turn them into leathers with differing characteristics in terms of their suppleness, firmness, color, smell, and feel. A satin-finish can be applied to both grained and smooth leathers, in a process that involves passing the leather between two heated presses.
