Duret Paris has been expertly and lovingly crafting exquisite objects in grainy calfskin since 1988. Our belts in grainy calfskin are made entirely by hand, in the finest traditions of saddlery and leatherworking. Thick, strong and available in a variety of sizes, grained calfskin is often used for small leather goods and fashion items. Its lovely smoothness and shine on the grain side makes calfskin an ideal material to choose for your luxury belt from Duret Paris. It is renowned for its beauty and quality, and our leather artisans respect that by using other noble materials – like natural pigments – when working with calf. Calfskin also lends itself well to having a beautiful patina applied, if you would like that for your belt.
Your belt in red grained box calf was crafted with the traditional saddlery and leathercrafting know-how of Duret Paris. We have been bringing our exacting quality, subtle style, and eye for perfection to our unique and authentic leather goods for over 25 years. The quality of our leathers and skins is paramount to us, since they will be the cornerstone of the belt or accessory you select. The leather of your belt or accessory will be dyed the desired color, red, using natural pigments. A hallmark of Duret Paris, a patinated red can also be achieved through the application of beeswax. You can pick the type of buckle that best matches your red belt from our choice of gold, palladium or ruthenium finishes. Your red leather belt is equally suited to daily wear or special occasions like a wedding or award ceremony. Whatever style you choose, your red grained box calf belt can be monogrammed with your initials – or someone else’s, if it is to be a gift.
There are three main families of leather: smooth, nubuck and grained. Grained leather is not naturally grained; it is the tanner who gives the desired appearance to the grain on the leather. All types of leather can be grained and the process can be done by pressure embossing, dry drumming or boarding. The grained leather of your high quality Duret Paris belts is traditionally darker on the top surface than in the creases of the grain. Maintenance is exactly the same as for any other leather, except it must also be well brushed with a polishing brush to make sure that no traces of leather cream remain in the creases.
